A CONVERSATION ABOUT THE NEW EUROPEAN BAUHAUS AND OUR BACKYARDS

How can a design and creative approach help us re-discover and re-imagine the places we live in?

It has been just over a year since in 2020 Rio Neiva - Environmental NGO implemented a citizen science pilot project titled "In My Backyard", supported by the European Union Horizon 2020 ACTION project.

This proved to be a unique opportunity to uncover the benefits that backyards can offer, from an environmental, social, well-being and/or economic perspective.

Fast-forward to 2021, Rio Neiva - Environmental NGO has become an official partner to the New European Bauhaus, a new program from the European Commission aiming to engage designers, architects, engineers and other creatives, to imagine how each European should connect to the Green Deal and “build together a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes, minds, and souls”.

It is within this context that we now intend to promote a conversation, departing from the In My Backyard video documentary, to discuss how a design and creative approach can help us re-discover and re-imagine the places we live in.

And what a better way to have this conversation by teaming up again with ACTION, and all previous and on-going pilot projects.
